Teaching has always been more than a profession for me—it is a calling that has shaped my identity and given me the privilege of engaging with learners at multiple stages of their academic journey. Over the years, I have had the honor of serving in diverse educational institutions, each experience enriching my perspective as a teacher and academic.
My journey began as a College Teacher Internee (CTI) at Municipal Degree College, Faisalabad, where I spent a year working closely with undergraduate students. This was my first exposure to the classroom environment, and it provided me with the foundational understanding of student engagement, curriculum delivery, and the everyday challenges of teaching at the college level.
From there, I joined Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), where I taught for six years. These years were truly formative, as they allowed me to develop not only as a teacher but also as a mentor. Working with a diverse student body in a vibrant academic environment gave me the opportunity to refine my teaching methods, adapt to different learning styles, and contribute to both the academic and personal growth of my students.
Later, I moved on to the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Faisalabad Campus, where I taught MPhil-level courses for one year. This was a particularly rewarding phase, as it gave me the chance to engage with advanced learners, guiding them in research methodologies, critical thinking, and specialized areas of English linguistics and literature. Teaching at the postgraduate level deepened my own understanding of the discipline and allowed me to contribute to shaping future researchers and scholars.
Currently, I am serving as an Assistant Professor and Chairperson of the Department of English Language & Literature at the University of South Asia, Raiwind Road, Lahore. This role is both a responsibility and a privilege. As a teacher, I continue to enjoy classroom interaction, but as chairperson, I am equally invested in academic leadership, curriculum planning, and creating opportunities for faculty and students to thrive.
Looking back, my teaching journey has been one of continuous learning, growth, and fulfillment. Each institution has added a new dimension to my professional life, and each classroom interaction has reminded me why I chose this path: to inspire, to guide, and to learn alongside my students.
